We had the best time!

Every year my husband and I take a fun weekend trip on Cape Air. Cape Air is a small, convenient airline that flies right out of Boston Logan Airport to eleven different regional airports in New England. They provide non-stop flights to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Rutland, Lebanon and more!

Our Previous Trips With Cape Air

In 2021 we flew over the gorgeous Adirondack Mountains to Saranac Lake, NY and stayed at the Saranac Waterfront Lodge. Ironically, that’s where we conceived! In May of 2022, we flew Cape Air again, but this time to Martha’s Vineyard. We stayed at The Hob Knob Luxury Boutique Hotel. That trip was to celebrate our “baby moon.” We walked downtown, ate lots of food and rented bicycles. We had the best time!

Our Babymoon! And Why You Should Go Where We Went

Our Engagement On September 1, 2020, Rob brought me to one of his favorite places on Earth, Martha's Vineyard. Even though I am a New Englander, I had never been over to the Island before. We...

This Year’s Cape Air Trip To Bar Harbor, Maine

Ayla, Rob and Bear

The check-in was fast and easy! Their customer service is wonderful

This year we went to Bar Harbor on Cape Air and brought our 8-month-old son, Barrett with us. We weren’t sure how he’d do on the small, 10-seater plane. Would he cry? Would he be scared? Nope! Our son looked out the window for the first ten minutes of the trip and then fell asleep in Rob’s arms. It’s so fun as a parent seeing the world through your child’s eyes. He was so amazed by the plane!

He was so relaxed by the sound of the propellers that he fell asleep ten minutes into the flight. (THANK GOODNESS!)

Our 70-min flight route from Boston Logan Airport to Bar Harbor, Maine was the most gorgeous! We traveled the coastline the entire trip. We saw Hampton Beach, Portsmouth, Kittery, and all of the coastal towns until we reached Bar Harbor. Flying into the airport was so cool because it was filled with little green islands with trees and mountains. There was blue ocean everywhere. By far, this was the prettiest flight path we’ve ever flown. For that reason alone, Bar Harbor is worth the trip! But take a look at our itinerary for more reasons to visit Bar Harbor this year!

  • Where We Stayed

We stayed at the Harborside Hotel & Marina. It was right on the water with the most breathtaking views! We had a room that looked right out onto the ocean. We went to bed with the sun setting every night outside of our window. There was even a hot tub on our outdoor patio! They have a beautiful lobby with a real wood-burning fireplace. It always smelled like “home” when you walked in. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is also VERY pet friendly, and in fact, a puppy greeted us from behind the desk when we checked in. This hotel was top notch and we can’t wait to return!

  • What We Rode Around In

The Acadia GEM was CLUTCH on our trip to Bar Harbor. They are brand new to the coastal town and they are already the talk of the town! The low-speech electric vehicles only go up to 25MPH. You can take them downtown and all the way through Acadia National Park. We loved the drive so much we did it three days in a row! The Acadia GEM really was the highlight of the trip and we highly suggest renting one and ripping around town.

  • Acadia National Park Was Stunning

If you’ve never driven through a national park are you even living? We loved riding through and seeing all of the beautiful look-out spots. You can see for miles! We stopped at Sand Beach and took our son in his little hiking carrier. He had the best time and so did we!

  • Where We Ate

We had some awesome meals in Bar Harbor! There were so many restaurants and honestly, not enough time to enjoy the all. Here’s the places we went and the highlights.

    1. The first night we ate at Leary’s Irish Pub. They had a killer fish and chips and I got the blackened haddock salad. It was amazing. And of course we had Guinness!

    2. Breakfast both mornings we ate at Choco-Latte. Their homemade bagels are to die for!! Their signature Choco-latte drink was also delicious. Highly suggest!

    3. For lunch on Saturday AND Sunday we went to Geddy’s. We met the owner outside of the restaurant and she was so nice that we were compelled to come in. She raved about the ahi fish tacos so both Rob and I ordered them. They were literally so good that we returned the next day for more. Can’t say enough about this place!

    4. Dinner on Saturday night we went to Side Street Cafe! Someone on Instagram told me to go there and get their chicken wings with the homemade rum sauce and their blueberry pie. We got both of those things and oh my gosh I’m still having dreams about that pie. Chef Bear came out and introduced himself to us because he heard that there was another “Bear” in the room (our son). They took a picture together! It was a really awesome place and off the beaten path.
