Would you take a paid week at an all inclusive resort if it meant you’d have to be a free babysitter for the week? Heidi’s older sister has been bringing her along on vacations with her family for years, but she’s tired of going because she ends up watching her sister’s kids the whole time instead of relaxing. So this year Heidi pretended to lose her passport so she “couldn’t go”, but her sister found the passport. Now Heidi either has to come clean or spend another week as a free babysitter.

Ayla Brown: And good morning, Heidi.

Heidi: Oh, my goodness. I love the show.

Ayla Brown: We get to help people out. And today we’re trying to help you not go on the trip of a lifetime. Like, am I understanding this right?

Heidi: No, no.

Ayla Brown: All inclusive? Right?.

Heidi: I don’t know that I’d call it quite the trip of a lifetime, however. Okay, so for years, my sister has been treating me. My sister, first of all, is about seven years older than me. And she’s got two kids. And so I go on all these trips with them and she pays for everything. And for years I’m like, Oh my gosh, this is amazing. My sister is treating me to all this stuff. But last year it really sunk in. I’m like a glorified babysitter. We went to Disney. And when I say we, I mean I took the kids to Disney, the theme parks, and my sister and her husband, they would hang out at the pool, at the bar, at the restaurant all day, not see any of us. And I’m like, Oh my gosh. I’m like, Really? The only reason I’m being paid for, for this amazing trip to Disney is to be like the person schlepping the kids around.

Ayla Brown: Okay, so let me clarify. You did not enjoy that experience? Because I thought Disney was supposed to be a magical experience for everyone of all ages. But you’re like, Not for me, honey. No way.

Heidi: Oh, well, I admit we had fun, but I’m the one out there all day, and we come back completely exhausted and they’re like, “Hey, let’s go party”. Like, this is so not fair.

Ayla Brown: So what’s happening? I’m assuming you said every year you go on a trip. So is there another one coming up?

Heidi: So, yes. She has invited me to this all inclusive in Mexico, which sounds amazing, but I know what’s going to happen. They’re going to be on the beach having margaritas and I’m going to be over the kiddy pool, like making sure that these kids don’t drown. And that stinks. I want to be looking for guys, you know?

Ayla Brown: Can you do both? I mean, maybe there are some single men at the kiddy pool? I don’t know. Single dads. It might be the best place to find them.

Heidi: I don’t know what I’m looking for. But I kind of did something dirty. I told her I lost my passport. And then I hid it in the back of my underwear drawer. Way in the back. And I told her, I am so sorry. They keep saying in the news that there’s a complete backup of trying to get last minute passports. There’s no way I’m going to get there.

Ayla Brown: To Mexico on this all inclusive trip.

Heidi: No way.

Ayla Brown: You were like, I don’t want to be the babysitter. So you lied. Okay, cool.

Heidi: So then get this. She has the nerve. She went into my apartment, went through my stuff and found the passport. Oh, my gosh, I see this. So I don’t know what to do, you know? I’ve lost my excuse and I really don’t want to go, but I feel terrible. She’s paid for this. I don’t know what to do.

Ayla Brown: Oh, she already paid for this? Heidi wants to know what should she do? Should she keep going and or just be honest? You know what? I don’t want to go, and I don’t want to be your babysitter anymore. What would you do if you were Heidi?
