Lushy List: South Shore
ShutterstockForget about going to Google. I have done all of the research on the South Shore breweries and wineries so you don't have to!
It's time for another Lushy List! What is the Lushy List you ask? It's a full and complete list of every brewery and winery in the Commonwealth of MA. I have consolidated them by region. This time, we head to the South Shore to look at some of our favorite breweries and wineries. According to the Mass.gov website, the "The South Shore Region includes the communities of Cohasset, Scituate, Norwell, Hanover, Marshfield, Pembroke, Duxbury, Kingston, and Plymouth." But I have expanded the list to include towns like Weymouth, Rockland, Braintree, and more.
From Mayflower Brewery in Plymouth, Vitamin Sea in Weymouth, and Widowmaker in Braintree, the South Shore is home to some amazing breweries and wineries! They all make their own craft brews, and many of the businesses support other local farms by using local ingredients in their mixes.
Sit back, crack open a cold one, and get ready to plan your next trip to one of Massachusetts finest watering holes. And if you're local to the South Shore, don't forget to shop (and drink) local!
Weymouth
Vitamin Sea Brewing
30 Moore Rd, Weymouth, MA
Vitamin Sea Brewing has great beer and out of all of the breweries on the South Shore, this is our family's local watering hole. We love their food trucks, beer, merchandise, and occasionally they have vendors selling crafts outside. The only thing they don't have is live music. If they did this brewery would be a 10/10!
Barrel House Z
95 Woodrock Rd, Weymouth
https://www.barrelhousez.net/
Barrel House Z is right next to Vitamin Sea Brewing. (Can someone say "bar crawl?!) They occasionally have live music and you can find their cans locally distributed in convenient and liquor stores. Shop local baby!
Rockland
Article Fifteen Brewing
406 VFW Drive, Rockland, MA
https://articlefifteenbrewing.com/
Article Fifteen Brewing started in Weymouth, but soon realized that they needed a bigger location, so now they have a 10,000stft brewery in Rockland. You can find live music, arcade games, cornhole and of course, beer!
Braintree
Widowmaker Brewing
220 Wood Rd, Braintree, MA
https://www.widowmakerbrewing.com/
Widowmaker Brewing is a cute brewery tucked down a street near the South Shore Plaza. So next time you're shopping at the mall, head to the brewery to get a beer and a snack.
Abington
10th District Brewing Company
748 Brockton Ave, Abington, MA
https://www.10thdistrictbrewing.com/
10th District Brewing Company is dog friendly, kid friendly, and beer friendly! Sometimes they have events (like trivia every Thursday!) but they encourage you to check out their Facebook page for the latest updates!
Whitman
Old Colony Brewing
599 Washington St, Whitman, MA
https://www.oldcolonybrewing.com/
Old Colony Brewing is a small craft brewery. They have a small draft menu, but of course you can buy cans to go. They have a couple IPAs, a hard seltzer and more!
Plymouth
High Limb Cider
Village West Shopping Center, Carver Rd, Plymouth, MA
https://www.highlimbcider.com/
High Limb Cider in Plymouth only uses local ingredients to make their ciders. This sounds like the perfect place to go during the fall, or if you love apples. You know what they say... an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Plymouth Bay Winery
114 Water St, Plymouth, MA
https://www.plymouthbaywinery.com/
The wine is made with locally grown grapes and fruit. The bottles look sleek, and the drinks are smooth. They have a tasting room, and a fantastic cranberry wine!
Second Wind Brewing Company
7 Howland St, Plymouth, MA
https://www.secondwindbrewing.com/
Second Wind Brewery is located in the heart of Plymouth. They have a variety of beers and some killer IPA's. They also have a patio that's open for the season in May.
Mayflower Brewing Company
12 Resnik Rd # 3, Plymouth, MA
https://www.mayflowerbrewing.com/
Located in historic Plymouth, this brewery has some history connected to it. It was founded by a tenth great grandson of a man who was a beer barrel cooper on board the actual Mayflower boat. Talk about a family legacy!
Independent Fermentations Brewing & Kombucha
127-3 Camelot Dr, Plymouth, MA
https://independentfermentations.com/
They say their beers are radically traditional. You won't find any fruity pebbles beer-flavored drinks here. All of their craft beers are grown with locally grown ingredients with an emphasis on Belgian and German styles.
