Police And Dogs Bring Comfort To A Peabody School After 2 Young Girls Are Hit By Car
It’s hard enough being an adult and dealing with a tragedy. For elementary school children, tragedy that hits close to home can be devasting, causing nightmares and anxiety. Kids this age may also “have trouble sleeping, paying attention or become agressive,” according the The Mayo Clinic.
CBS News Boston reported that, Friday afternoon, tragedy struck in Peabody when two young girls and their mother were crossing Lynn Stree. All three were hit by a car. The girls were seriously injured. Five year old Piper and her sister, eight year old Tess have since been released from the hospital. Tess broke her leg.
Yesterday, police respresenting departments from Gloucester, Wakefield, Salem and Hudson came together to bring the children of a Peabody’s South School some joy. Five comfort dogs accompanied the police. The officers and the pups visited every classroom, and spent time with all the kids. Proof once again, that not all heroes wear capes…Some wear badges and some wear fur coats.
