J.P. Licks Has A New Ice Cream Collab With A Beloved Boston Taqueria
J.P. Licks, Boston’s favorite ice cream shop, and Anna’s Taqueria, Boston’s beloved taqueria, recently announced a new horchata ice cream collaboration. And the results are in! I’ll give my review on it in a second.
But first, let’s talk about where the inspiration came from to put the horchata flavor into an ice cream. The creation of this deliciousness was inspired by Anna’s Taqueria’s homemade horchata. Horchata is a traditional Mexican beverage that’s packed with flavors of cinnamon, vanilla, and rice. If you’ve never had Anna’s horchata, you’re missing out!
About J.P. Licks Ice Cream
Established in 1981 in the vibrant Jamaica Plain neighborhood by founder Vince Petryk, J.P. Licks has since become an iconic fixture for locals and tourists alike. What started as a single, quaint ice cream parlor has now blossomed into a thriving chain, but its heart remains in its roots.
The shop has earned a reputation for its premium quality homemade ice cream, frozen yogurt, and roastery products, like coffee. Vince, an artisan at heart, insisted on creating flavors that were both innovative and reminiscent of New England’s traditions. Over the years, J.P. Licks has been recognized for its bold flavors, such as Fresh Cucumber and Burnt Sugar, while also keeping classic favorites on hand.
That’s why their partnership with Anna’s Taqueria is perfect and also uniquely ‘Boston.’
About Anna’s Taqueria
Since its inception in 1995, Anna’s has been serving up a taste of true Mexican street food, creating a devoted following of locals and visitors who yearn for its mouthwatering burritos, tacos, and other delectable offerings.
With multiple locations spread across the Greater Boston area, Anna’s Taqueria remains a favorite to Mexican food lovers. I personally have been going there since 2004 when I was in high school! I get the same thing ever single time. A cheese quesadilla with a little rice, black beans, half chicken, half carnitas, sour cream, and guacamole. It’s The best thing you’ve ever tried. I promise.
And their horchata is iconic as well, which is why it’s awesome that there’s a new horchata J.P. Licks ice cream!
J.P. Licks Horchata Ice Cream Review
Stepping into fall season, everyone is pumped about ‘pumpkin spice this’ and ‘pumpkin spice that,’ which is why this J.P. Licks’ Horchata ice cream is the season’s unexpected delight. One taste, and it’s evident that the maestros of ice cream at J.P. Licks have managed to capture the essence of this beloved Mexican beverage in frozen form.
The flavor profile is a dance between earthy rice and the pronounced warmth of cinnamon. While horchata traditionally offers a delicate balance between its components, this ice cream variant leans more heavily into the cinnamon, making it exceptionally fitting for the fall months. Each spoonful feels like a cozy embrace, reminiscent of crisp leaves underfoot and the scent of spiced candles in the air.
Where You Can Buy The J.P. Licks Ice Cream
