New Romance Bookstore Lovestruck Opens in Harvard Square
If you crave a love affair with a good book in Boston, then Lovestruck Books has you covered. The new romance bookstore opened at 44 Brattle St. in Harvard Square on Thursday, Dec. 19. The bookseller features more than 5,000 square feet of space for books covering all romance sub-genres, according to a Boston Globe report.
Lovestruck Books owner Rachel Kanter of Keene, New Hampshire, comes to the world of independent bookstores following a career in education and education nonprofits. In an interview with Boston.com in July, Kanter explained how her love affair with romance fiction has grown over the years:
“I have always loved romance. It was sort of my guilty secret, and I would sort of slip my friends my favorite romance books growing up, and then as I’ve gotten older, I’ve just become more and more overt about it,” she said.

Kanter said Lovestruck Books appeals to those new to the romance genre and seasoned readers who know what they’re looking for in a good romance read, including sports romance, dark romance, and historical romance.
Lovestruck Books is open after the holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. When the shop’s George Howell coffee spot and wine bar opens in the middle to the end of January, the hours will change from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.
