Carrie Underwood Sings At Presidential Inauguration
Carrie Underwood sang “America the Beautiful” after a delay at President Trump’s inauguration today (1/20), which pushed her performance back about half an hour. When she did take to the stage at the rotunda in the Capitol, Carrie stood patiently as they tried to gather the music. They were unable to do so, so she sang acapella after telling the crowd to sing along with her because everyone knew the words.
She showed her vocal skills and, when she was finished, shook former President Biden’s hand and then President Trump’s hand, who leaned in to kiss her cheek. She was accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
Underwood said in a statement to the U.S.A. Today, after it was announced she would perform at the inauguration, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
Jason Aldean
Fellow country superstar Jason Aldean, who introduced Trump at a campaign rally in Georgia, will perform at tonight’s (1/20) Liberty Ball. The Liberty Inaugural Ball is one of three official inaugural balls alongside the Commander-in-Chief Ball and the Starlight Ball.
After the attempted assassination on Trump in Pennsylvania last summer, Aldean dedicated a performance of his song “Try That in a Small Town” to the then-candidate while on tour.

On Election Day (11/4), Jason reaffirmed his support for Trump on Instagram. Jason wrote, “Over the past several years we have taken a lot of heat from the entertainment industry and the media for our support of @realdonaldtrump,” Aldean wrote. “As a father and an American citizen, I want to see our country get back to its values and principles that made us great to begin with.”
Before he was sworn into office in 2017, Trump held a concert at the Lincoln Memorial that included performances from Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood, and 3 Doors Down.
