See The ‘Orange Line On Fire Tattoo’ That’s All Over The Internet
Take a tragedy and turn it into art. That happened, and at the same time this piece of art is making a social statement about sustainable energy and shared resources.
According to NBC10 Boston, the tattoo first took flight online when a photo of it was posted on the website, Universal Hub. The human behind the tat is Boston drag performer Slim Jym Shorts, who wants only to be known by this moniker. They are a frequent Orange Line rider and currently very frustrated with the shutdown.
That image of the MBTA Orange Line on fire, over a bridge, on the Mystic River is unforgettable. The incident even lead to a dangerous dive into the river, by one woman. Slim Jym Shorts will carry the image with them for life. Shorts relayed to NBC10 that “I hope that, if nothing else, this serves as a wake up call to invest in infrastructure.” And went on to actually defend public transportation, in general, to the news station; “Public transit is critical. So many of us rely on it. It’s beautiful, it’s what makes cities good.” You’ll notice some devil horns were added to the subway car.
