Body Worlds Exhibit Will Premier In Boston This Summer
“Body Worlds: The Anatomy of Happiness” will make its North American debut in Boston this summer. This is the work of Gunther von Hagens, who is the original anatomical exhibition of real human bodies. On Friday, July 7 BODY WORLDS unveils what they call “a journey under the skin.”

Body Worlds History
Gunther von Hagens is a German anatomist known for inventing the technique to preserve biological tissue specimens. Here, human bodies are preserved through plastination. This preservation process dates back to 1977, when von Hagens worked as an anatomist at the University of Heidelberg.
His first public exhibition opened in Japan in 1995. Since then, more than 54 million visitors have experienced this unique body museum. It has adopted a traveling exhibition format, where it has had showcases in over 150 cities in the Americas, Europe, South Africa, and Asia.

Joining Gunther von Hagens’ vision here is Dr. Angelina Whalley, a physician, and curator in this human anatomy field. In putting the body on display, it is the aim of Body Works is to inspire visitors to look inward within themselves. In addition, the showcases emphasize the importance of taking care of your body and releasing your human potential. The gallery pieces on display include exhibits on the brain, skull, and body muscles.
