Massachusetts: Boston Local Food Fest With 70 Vendors Announced
The Boston Local Food Festival is one of the biggest public city events; it will take place on Saturday, September 17, at the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
Over recent years the Greenway has established itself as a popular area that supports small and local businesses. The Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts recently provided the details for this year’s big local food fest and the details are very exciting. “Our annual Boston Local Food Festival has been hailed as one of the top 10 food events in Boston since 2010,” they said.
As of now, 70 vendors have been announced to be onsite. This includes everything from Eloti Street Corn to Hometown Poke to sweet treats of The Whoopie Wagon.
Much More Than Food
Although grabbing homegrown tasty bites is the main attraction of this festival, there are also plenty of other elements to this day. Here is a sneak peek at what else you can expect at the festival.
There will be cooking demonstrations led by local culinary experts. The New England Village will be onsite where authors of this program will explain how New England plans to locally source everything from Maple farms in Vermont to garlic out of Maine.
In addition, there will also be a little friendly competition. The local seafood throw-down features two renowned chefs who compete publicly. They are given a secret ingredient to include in their cooking. Then, they have to leverage their creative juices to come up with an original take on a favorite seafood dish.
Finally, the Boston Local Food Festival is a zero-waste event. “We divert over 91% of our waste each year, and we offset 100% of our energy use,” they explain. The items that are sold that are perishable are made from locally sourced products.
Fun For The Whole Family
The Boston Local Food Festival is an all-ages, family event. In fact, there is even a dedicated “Family Fun Zone.” This area has interactive games, water fountains, and activities.

Massachusetts: Local Street Art Is Getting National Exposure
A New Bedford, Massachusetts street art display is now getting national attention by being published in a book by Simon & Schuster.
On the Wall Posters: Street Art is described as a one-of-a-kind collection of posters, all from local artists. This book showcases 30 graffiti and street mural-inspired wall posters. Furthermore, it is all from the local mural art project, Superflat NB.
Founded in 2017, Superflat NB works directly with New Bedford’s residents and other artists around the world. Together, they are creating transformative public art. The collection of posters they will be publishing into a colorful book will bring these art pieces to life. In fact, you can now insert them right into your home.
What Superflat means
Japanese contemporary artist, “Takashi Murakami coined the term to express spatial compression and the blending of high and low art in his own work.” Superflat NB explains via their website. “Surperflat NB will provide access to the arts by directly engaging New Bedford’s youth, artists, and its residents in the ideation and creation of transformative public art through the traditions of mural-making,” they conclude. Their aim is to revitalize the city of New Bedford by inspiring youth with this creative outlet. In addition, their murals will bring national artists’ work into the community.
Book Introduction
“Today, street art is used worldwide for self-expression and to add character to unexpected places,” the book quotes. What can you expect to find when you crack open this poster book? On The Wall Posters: Street Art explains it as “wildstyle graffiti tags and colorful B-boy characters, to pop-art, stencil-style mural and more.”
Here, we will look at three pieces featured in this Massachusetts street art book that will now receive national distribution.
The book is available for pre-order now. It will be officially released on September 19, 2023. In the meantime, you preview the images and find more information on their Simon & Schuster page.
