Kruser’s Local Catch

Maddi Ryan is a star. She has the wings, the power and drive to take flight. This New England artist has everything she needs to be next level. Her powerhouse vocals are simply stunning. And clearly, she can craft a song that connects. Maddi is also a multi-instrumentalist and in-demand performer. Here, you can get to know this talented singer/songwriter. Meet my Local Catch of the Week, Maddi Ryan from Methuen.

Ryan’s style is more Sheryl Crow than Lainey Wilson, but there has always been a country influence. And that is particularly reflected in her writing. There’s the passion and relatability that comes with a good country song. And of course, there’s always a story. In her latest story, Maddi is picking up the pieces from losing someone very close to her. She’s telling the world how she feels, and it’s raw and real.

Listening to “Miss You” by Maddi Ryan makes you think she could be a rock star. It’s her compelling voice that draws you in and takes you with her. You can practically feel her pain. Yet, it’s not all wrapped up in darkness, because at the same time, you can feel the power of her love. There is a lightness to the weight of her message.

Hear Maddi’s new song, and learn more about the New England Music Country Act of the Year nominee, here. It’s important to support our local singer/songwriters, and you can do that by following them on their social media and seeing them perform live. Maddi’s gigs and social network information are all right here, as well.

Listen, learn and love.

  • The Music

Maddi Ryan’s new release is called, “Miss You.” She shared the meaning behind the song: “Miss You” is a song dedicated to my late grandfather, I wrote it in the wake of his passing 7 years ago. He was my best friend, and I wanted to write a song that commemorated him and how he was. It’s a song to let him know how much I miss him. I hope this song makes people think of their loved ones and reflect on all the things they miss about them too <3″

  • The Story

    • From: Methuen, MA
    • Current single: “Miss You” / Debut EP – “Growing Pains”
    • What led you to music: My parents were always singing in the house when I was growing up so it’s always been around me. I think I really fell in love with music because of the way it made me feel. No matter how I was feeling there was a song that I could turn to, and singing was always an outlet for me. As I got older, I began to write more and more songs and learn to play different instruments and the rest is history!
    • How long have you been performing: Ever since I can remember I’ve been singing! As a baby I’d always be singing, making up my own songs, and putting on “concerts” live from atop the coffee table! Professionally….10 years.
    • First country song you learned: “Crazy” by Patsy Cline
    • How would you describe your sound: Pop/Country
    • Who inspires you: Musically: Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Madison Cunningham, Phoebe Bridgers, Kacey Musgraves / In General: My parents – they’ve taught me that if you work hard, you can achieve anything you set your mind to!
    • Awards/accolades: Nominated for ‘Country Act of the Year’ at the New England Music Awards (2019, 2021, 2023)
    • Dream duet partner: Stevie Nicks
    • All- time favorite country songs:
      “Crazy” – Patsy Cline
“Folsom Prison Blues” – Johnny Cash
      “My Church” – Maren Morris
    • First country concert: Billy Currington with Kelsea Ballerini
    • If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: I’d be an entertainment attorney
    • Day Job: None! I’m proud to say music is my full time job!
    • Most proud moment: Releasing my debut EP “Growing Pains”! The release show was held a few weeks ago at the Supper Club at CAPO in South Boston and I got to play the whole EP to a packed room, it was an amazing experience! I’m so grateful to everyone who bought tickets and came out to support my music!
    • Crazy thing that happened in your music career: There’s been so many things, but I think the one thing that sticks out most is the amount of familiar faces I see at shows and how they even know the words to my songs…I’m in awe and am constantly thankful for experiences like that.
    • Other things you like to do: I’ve recently been getting into cooking and experimenting in the kitchen! I love to grab coffee with friends, watch reality TV (Kitchen Nightmares, Love Is Blind, The Real Housewives), and spend time with my family!
    • Fun facts: I have the same Birthday as Johnny Cash (February 26th), I’m an only child, I have 2 dogs (Cooper and Penny Lane), and I play a variety of instruments – piano, guitar, mandolin, ukulele – and am learning drums!
    • Mantra: It’s not a race, it’s a marathon
