Tenants of a New York City housing project have not been given any leniency on their rent amid the pandemic.
SNL’s Michael Che is stepping in to help.
He chose the particular housing project because his late grandmother once lived there and he is choosing to honor her memory by paying one month rent for all 160 tenants.
He wrote on social media, “It’s crazy to me that residents of public housing are still expected to pay their rent when so many New Yorkers can’t even work.”
He said he knows his gesture is small and called on New York City officials, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, Mayor DeBlasio and Diddy to fix this.
