Blake Shelton Sings For Two Nurses Who Recovered From COVID-19
Blake Shelton surprised two nurses — a mother and daughter from Louisiana who overcame COVID-19.
In a story on NBC’s Today, Hoda Kotb talked to a Louisiana nursing assistant who shared her story of recovery: just last month, Brigette Robinson was on a ventilator, fighting for her life after being afflicted with the coronavirus. Her daughter, Sylvia Johnson, still showed up every day to her job as a nurse to help others battling COVID-19 in the same hospital, Slidell’s Ochsner North Shore.
Hoda said she wanted to thank the nurses with a song and brought on Shelton into the video chat, who said, “Everything about this disease, I mean, you guys are out there on the front lines fighting it, and now you’re a survivor of it. And you’ve got each other, and that’s really what this is all about. Literally a light shining bright.”
Shelton then sang “God Gave Me You,” explaining, “You keep throwing it back to God and I love hearing you say that.”
