Nintendo Shows Off Switch 2 Console Coming in 2025 with New Features
In an exciting reveal, Nintendo showed off its next gaming system – the Switch 2. The 2025 launch will work with all existing Switch games while adding major hardware improvements.
The quick preview highlighted new magnetic controllers and a bigger screen with USB-C charging. An impressive Mario Kart demo showed what the system can do graphics-wise.
Save the date for April 2, 2025, when Nintendo Direct will share more info. This new Switch follows the huge success of the first one, which ranks as the third best-selling console ever, with 146 million units sold worldwide.
Inside, it runs on an eight-core Cortex-A78AE chip with 10 streaming multiprocessors. The base model comes with 64GB storage and 8GB RAM, powered by a custom Nvidia T239 processor.
With these new parts, gamers can look forward to much better battery life than the original Switch.
At $400, it matches up with other current consoles. Players can choose from 25 games at launch, with new titles costing between $60 and $70.
Nintendo isn’t worried about supply issues, saying they have enough chips ready for a smooth release.
Already own Switch games? Don’t worry. All your game cards and downloaded games will work just fine on the new system.
