Tony Winner Cynthia Erivo Named Harvard’s 2025 Hasty Pudding Honoree
Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals has chosen Broadway and film star Cynthia Erivo as their 2025 Woman of the Year. She’ll be teased during a roast and get the traditional Pudding Pot on February 5.
“We are holding space for Cynthia Erivo’s arrival,” said Hannah Frazer in a news release. “We’re sweeping out our broomstick closets and prepping some wicked smart humor as we eagerly await her in February. Before she flies off with her Pudding Pot, she’ll have to work a little magic to earn it.”
Actor Jon Hamm will join the celebration as Man of the Year on January 31. Following Erivo’s roast at 7:00 PM and a press conference at 7:25 PM, she’ll watch the group’s 176th production, “101 Damnations.”
This award adds to her impressive collection of accolades. She grabbed a Tony in 2016 for her incredible performance in “The Color Purple” on Broadway. She’s also picked up Emmy and Grammy nominations, along with two Oscar nods.
Her powerful portrayal of freedom fighter Harriet Tubman wowed critics and led to an Academy Award nomination. She’s shone in films like “Widows” and “Bad Times at the El Royale,” while making her mark on TV in “The Outsider.”
Her role as Aretha Franklin in “Genius: Aretha” got her Emmy attention. She’s now taken on producing with the movie “Drift.”
Hasty Pudding has been honoring entertainment’s biggest names since 1951. Their past winners include Hollywood legends from Meryl Streep to Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson to Annette Bening.
