Is Little Steve’s Pizzeria Coming Back to Boylston Street?
A beloved Boston pizzeria could return to its previous Boylston Street home under new ownership.
The Boston Restaurant Talk blog reported on Friday, Jan. 17, that Pizza Box LLC, dba Little Steve’s Pizzeria, had filed an application with the City of Boston for a common victualler license to operate at its former 1114 Boylston Street location, where the Back Bay and Fenway neighborhoods meet. The blog cited a licensing page on the City of Boston’s website as its source for the information.
According to the notice, the 4,723-square-foot pizzeria would support seating for 43 people and have a seasonal patio with seating for 16 people. The license filing notice lists Koushik Babu Koganti as the business manager. It is presumed that Koushik Babu Koganti listed on the license is the same individual involved in the business operations of several Boston-area dining establishments, including Godavari, Madras Dosa, and the Boston Halal chain.
According to the Little Steve’s Pizzeria website, the pizza shop was founded in Boston in 1968 and had been looking to be replaced by another business at its Boylston Street location in 2021. The property had been approved for a dispensary to operate at the site, but those plans never came to fruition, according to a Jan. 17 post by Universal Hub.
The city’s licensing board will consider Koganti’s licensing request during its virtual Wednesday hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 22, beginning at 10 a.m.
