Christian Vázquez Says Goodbye To Boston In Emotional Post
Two words: Class act.
Former Red Sox catcher (that hurts to write) Chritian Vázquez posted an emotional goodbye to Boston on Instagram. I know there’s no crying in baseball, but I’m crying.
If losing a beloved player like Vazquez has you feeling down. There may be some hope.
Before making his Astros debut, Christian Vázquez hinted that he might be willing to rejoin the Red Sox as a free agent this winter. https://t.co/Nf1vNJmSlz

In case you missed the story, here’s what happened. Before the start of the game in Houston on Monday night, the Red Sox traded longtime player Vasquez to the team he was about to play. So literally he had to walk down the hall to report to his new team. This, according to a report from CBS Sports, via ESPN. The Sox catcher was traded in the middle of an interview, during batting practice in Houston.
Sure, we all know it’s a business, but it’s also human beings, who’ve developed tight relationships with teammates, and communities they’ve come to be a part of. Not to mention, their families who are certainly affected by a trade. And to see Vazquez’ facial expression of sadness and a little shock didn’t set well with Red Sox Nation. Before Christian was traded in mid interview, the World Series winning catcher spent at total of 13 years in the Red Sox organization. He was drafted in the ninth round in 2008 and became a valued and reliable member of the team. Christian has caught 651 games with the franchise, becoming the fifth place record holder in franchise history. #7 made his MLB debut with the Red Sox in 2014, and earned a ring as part of the 2018 World Series champions.
