Catch Of The Week: Jenny Leigh Miller
Meet Jenny Leigh Miller, from Southern Connecticut and Nashville
Everyone’s story is different, and yet ironically similar. For Jenny Leigh Miller, there was always the appreciation of music, from a young age, like many before her. She started belting out Sheryl Crow songs when she was just 7 years old. Her mother heard her loud and clear, and knew there was something there, so she would keep rewinding the tape to have Jenny Leigh sing the songs over and over again. There is definitely a Sheryl Crow influence in her sound, as there is some Faith Hill, and perhaps Shania Twain. All strong singer/songwriters who made careers out of melding country, rock and pop.
Jenny’s love of music, as strong as it was, took a back seat for a while to her passion for world affairs, and her desire to serve our country. Just 2 weeks before graduating high school, Miller enlisted in the military and went on to serve 1 tour of duty overseas, and 2 in the U.S. While serving, she learned to play the guitar, and before long started writing her own songs. Jenny Leigh realized there that writing was a true form of healing through artistic expression.
Her love of our country and country music has lead Jenny Leigh Miller to create some passionate and captivating music. In fact, she was recently honored with a Josie Music Award nomination for Female Rising Star Vocalist of the Year, and Best Song For Modern Country for her single, “Driving with the Top Down.”
