Thomas Rhett “Totally Unprepared” For New Baby
You’d think Thomas Rhett would have the whole baby thing down. He already had a 21-month-old when earlier this month he and wife Lauren welcomed her little sister Ada James, after all. He’s not quite on top of things yet, though.
Basically, there’s a whole lot of crying going on. “We are completely unprepared, that’s for sure,” he says through his record label. “I feel like I know how to deal with a two-year-old pretty accurately now, but an infant is a whole different story because when they cry you don’t fully know why they’re crying. And I have not been a very good ‘make you stop crying’ kind of dad. It’s been a huge adjustment but we’re having a blast and feel very blessed to have two pretty girls.”
Ada joins adopted big sister Willa Gray, who’s just as enthralled with the new little one as mom or dad. “The next day after we had Ada, Willa came to the hospital and started putting her hands like all over [her] and it was a bunch of ‘be gentle, be gentle,'” Thomas continues. “But now it’s amazing because Willa asks to hold Ada … she’ll just sit there on the couch and rock her.”
Dad predicts a special relationship between the pair in years to come. “I think they’re so close in age that they’re gonna be really close as they get older,” he says.
