Thomas Rhett’s Shifting Focus And New Album
Thomas Rhett is all over the place these days supporting his new album Life Changes, which released earlier today (9/8). One of those places is the interview chair, which the The Washington Post took advantage of earlier this week. Thomas is notably candid about fatherhood, love and shifting priorities in the resulting story.
For starters, the “Unforgettable” singer shares his surprise at how famous he and wife Lauren have become as a couple. “It is very weird,” he tells the publication. “Because we are completely just normal people who fight like normal couples, and love like normal couples. It is nuts how famous my wife has become over these past couple of years. She has a million Instagram followers, which is insane to me.”
Much of that fame centers on the two additions to their family this year: adopted daughter Willa Gray an biological daughter Ada James. The little girls have naturally contributed to a shifting of priorities. “This is more about providing more for his family now,” Thomas dad Rhett Akins says of his son’s focus. “This isn’t just a young kid out there having a blast. This is: ‘I gotta wife and two kids.'”
Enter Life Changes, Thomas’ aptly titled new album. Many call it his most daring project yet, and Thomas agrees. “You’re always going to struggle with the fans that fell in love with you on that last record for that one reason and may not fall in love with you on this next record,” he says of pushing the envelope. “You have to be ready to take some risks.”
