Keith Urban Releases Music Video For Lainey Wilson Duet
Keith Urban has released a music video for his duet with Lainey Wilson, “Go Home W U.” It’s the fourth song released from his forthcoming album, High, out on September 20th. The video features footage from its live debut with Wilson, filmed from the Nissan Stadium in Nashville at this year’s CMA Music Festival.
As Urban tells it, “A friend of mine suggested the idea of making the song a duet, and I immediately thought of Lainey. Besides the fact that I love her voice, she’s got the swagger and attitude that fit so well with the song.”
Lainey said of the country superstar, “Keith has been someone in the industry I’ve taken notes from for a while now. From watching him at CMA Fest every year growing up to hearing the way he treats people up and down music row, he has taught me a lot. He’s a genuine supporter of mine and I am honored I get to continue to learn from one of the best. Getting to do a song with Keith is a notch on my belt I am very proud of.”
Keith added, “I wrote “Go Home W U” in 2020 with BRELAND, Sam (Sumser) and Sean (Small). We had a blast writing it. It started out as a late-night drum loop; I grabbed a bass guitar and started playing a simple recurring bass line. Before we knew it, we were writing a chorus that could be sung by any drunk person in any bar anywhere in the world.”

Urban talked with us this week (8/14) about his latest album, High, which will be released on September 20. The duet with Wilson is on the album. So I could not resist asking Keith about Lainey’s incredible success in country music in the last year or so and what she brings to the genre.
Urban said, “Artistry, first and foremost, artistry and authenticity. Those things don’t always come in the same package. She’s just the real deal. It’s no surprise to me that she’s caught fire as fast as she has because she’s ready, and despite what she thinks, she’s totally ready.”
Keith recalled a moment he had with Wilson after her big Entertainer of the Year win, “She was sharing with me after the Entertainer of the Year honor backstage, and she kind of had the deer in the headlight vibe about her. I said, ‘How do you feel?’ and she goes, ‘I’m just… it’s so much so quickly, and I want to stay around.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh My God, I felt this exact same way in 2005 when I won that (ETOTY). It felt way too soon. I felt like they had given me the gold watch, ‘Thanks very much, there’s the door.’ And I was just getting started, so I couldn’t enjoy it. It just felt like too much too soon.”
