Zach Bryan Slaps Back At ‘Weird Couch Warriors’
Zach Bryan has been getting a lot of heat since he broke up with his girlfriend, sports personality Brianna Chickenfry, in November. Chickenfry accused him of abuse and claimed he offered her $12 million to sign a non-disclosure agreement. He made the breakup very public by posting it on his Insta Stories and not telling her personally.
Since then, the singer has said on social media that he’s stepping away from touring in order to pursue a master’s degree in Paris.
This week, Zach has gotten sick of all the backlash from fans and others online. He wrote a lengthy series of messages on his Insta Stories addressing all the backlash. He called people commenting on the breakup “weird couch warriors.” He noted that people are “belittling” his friends online, because “you’re assuming I have a girlfriend.”
Bryan came to his friend’s defense, stating that he’s not personally bothered by online rumors, but anyone who upsets a person he loves is going too far.
In a series of slides with his comments, he said in part:
“Everyone wonders why I quit touring and don’t want to be attached to music anymore, meanwhile you’re calling my friends ugly and harassing them?”
“I don’t have a girlfriend and don’t plan on having a girlfriend, however, I do have normal friends that I love very much and would go to the ends of the earth for.”
“I don’t need people telling me to hang in there, sympathizing with me, or giving me advice on how to handle something or things they’ve never coped with, I’ve been battling this whole fame thing for half a decade.”

Bryan concluded, “Respectfully, I don’t need your unsolicited advice. I am a grown man. I promise I can get through some little bullies on the internet.”
In October, Bryan was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine along with rock icon Bruce Springsteen. The two sat for an interview together for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” series. “I never thought I’d be sitting here with you,” Bryan said.
Zach also talked about the fact that he never really wanted to be a country singer. He said, “I don’t want to be a country musician. Everyone calls me it. I want to be a songwriter, and you’re quintessentially a songwriter.”
Bryan added that he “hated” to use Springsteen‘s name in front of him, but he reiterated that no one calls Bruce Springsteen a “freaking rock musician.” Zach noted that Springsteen fits in a number of categories and hasn’t allowed himself to be boxed into one genre.
