Catch Of The Week: Whitney Doucet
Meet Whitney Doucet from Fitchburg, MA
Whitney Doucet can thank LeAnn Rimes for leading her down the country road. She was always into music, but hearing “How Do I Live” really inspired her to be involved. Doucet was just 14 years old when she started singing, playing and performing. After voice lessons, competitions and the opportunity to sing with Keith Urban on stage a few years ago (thanks to a Country 102.5 contest), Whitney is where she was meant to be. She now writes her own songs and performs all over New England, including singing the National Anthem at Sox, Bruins, and Patriots games. Doucet describes her sound as “pop country with rock undertones.” Whatever you call it, it’s working for Whitney as she continues to gain popularity. She has a way with a song that makes you want to know more.
By the way, budding vocalists, Whitney’s day job is as a vocal coach at Patrice Peris Studios, where, for the time being because of the pandemic, she is teaching virtual voice lessons.

Whitney Takes The Wheel
- Instruments played: Violin, I was in an orchestra when I was 14.
- Who inspires you: I love Kacey Musgraves! Her style, and instrumentations, lyrics are so awesome.
- If you are a band, how did you get your name: I have a band, Whitney Doucet and Moonshine Band, I was adopted into that band and brought my name into the title, we morphed together from two existing bands. I love where we are at now!
- All- time favorite country songs: Shania Twain-“That Don’t Impress Me Much,” Kacey Musgraves – Slow Burn” and Kellie Pickler- “Didn’t you know how much I loved you”
- Favorite country concert: KEITH URBAN – Raise em Up tour, of course 🙂 *(Whitney won a contest on our station to sing with Keith Urban)
- What songs do you like now on Country 1025: Carrie Underwood – Drinking Alone
- If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: IF I weren’t a musician I’d be doing something in the arts. Probably anything other than a mathematician.
- Most proud moment: Getting my song “long Road” on the grammy ballot was a great achievement.
- Craziest thing that ever happened in your music career: The Craziest thing that has ever happened was singing a duet with Keith Urban!
- Other things you like to do: I’ve become quite the bird enthusiast. We have a few Bald Eagles, Golden eagles and Ospreys that I’ve been enjoying watching during this quarantine.
- Encounters with the famous: I’ve met some of my all-time favorite country singers Leann Rimes, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Jo Dee Messina, Craig Morgan, Kelly Pickler, ALL OF THEM WERE VERY, Very kind ???? KELLY PICKLER WAS THE NICEST. She stopped the photo session to answer a question that I had. I asked her “ what advice would you give someone trying to pursue music” and she stopped the whole photo and said ‘OMG GIRL, you just gotta get out there, and sing as much as you can, don’t listen to anyone who tries to tell you not to do it” and then we got a photo together. she was sweet.
- Frivolous Fun Facts: I have a 34 week streak of posting a weekly Dock talk where I go out on my dock, breathe, gather my thoughts and write up a positive, motivational post. It started off being a helpful way for me to start my Mondays, but as the weeks past I have gotten positive feedback from others saying they love reading it and look forward to it!
