2023 New England Music Awards Nominees Announced: Vote Now For Local Catch Favorites

When I watch music awards shows, I often find myself yelling at the TV for the good, the bad and the ugly. We all want a say in the outcome and hey, we all think we know best, right? Well, here’s a music awards show that YOU can help decide the winners, with your vote. The 2023 New England Music Awards nominees were announced, vote now for your Local Catch favorites.

I love seeing so many names I know on the nominees list. You may recognize many of these names, too, as they have been featured as my Local Catch of the Week. These artists work so hard, and this awards show (along with all local awards) are a great way to recognize their art and efforts.

You will certainly recognize names on the list, if you follow the Local Catch or local venues that host live music around Boston and New England. From now through through October 1, you can cast your vote for the New England Music Awards. These awards will be given out in all genres and many categories ranging from Rising Stars  to Act of the Year.

And the Nominees Are…

Have you ever seen Martin & Kelly perform? How about April Cushman, Annie Brobst, the Jake Ash Band, Kevin Herchen or Nick Casey? They have all been spotlighted on Country 1025 as my Local Catch of the Week, and are all nominees this year. Whitney Doucet, Louie Bello, Houston Bernard, Shanna Jackman, Patrick Kearns and many more have also been given nods. Congratulations to ALL the nominees! Now, your job, should you choose to accept it, is to vote! Then, go watch the awards at Six String Grill and Stage on November 12. Five Movie Stars That Absolutely Love Country Music

  • Chris Pratt

    Chris is a big fan of country music and even stopped by Nashville bars in 2019 to step on stage and sing a few songs for shocked locals. In 2017, Pratt sang a song with Chris Stapelton when he hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live. The two tackled the 1980s movie duet “I’ve Had The Tie Of My Life.”

  • Matthew McConaughey

    It’s no secret that Matthew is a country music fan and friend to many country superstars, including Kenny Chesney, who he often welcomes at his annual Mack, Jack, and McConaughey annual fundraiser. McConaughey is also confirmed to be the star of the next Yellowstone franchise which will no doubt show off his love for country music even more.

  • Nicole Kidman

    This is a given, being the wife of Keith Urban for almost twenty years. Keith told us early in his marriage that he was teaching Nicole all the right songs to check out in country music, starting with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Plus, Kidman is usually front and center at the country music awards show next to her man, so no doubt she knows and loves a song or two in country.

  • Reese Witherspoon

    This native Nashvillian has always loved country music and won her 2006 Best Actress Oscar for playing Johnny Cash’s wife and country star June Carter Cash in Walk The Line. Reese always shares her love of country music and is currently the producer on a new talent-seeking show on Apple TV called My Kind of Country, along with country Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves. Witherspoon has talked about looking up to Dolly Parton as a child.

  • Dwayne Johnson

    Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spent part of his high school years living in Nashville and gained a big love for country music. Most recently, Dwyane shouted out to his buddy Jelly Roll on his Whitset Chapel album release, telling his hundreds of millions of Instagram followers to buy the project. Johnson has long shared on talk shows that he loves country music, and he even sang a country song with Kelly Clarkson on her talk show last year.

Born and raised at Country 1025. Carolyn is a concert-lovin’ country music fan. Plus, an avid New England sports fan. Count Kruser in for standup comedy, movies, and cosmos, but family is #1 for her. Wife, mother of 2- plus Zoey the dog, unpaid cook, cleaner and organizer of chaos. Kruser likes to write about country music, New England lifestyle and trending topics.
