Garth Brooks’ Stage In Ireland Is A ‘Massive Structure’
Now that Garth Brooks has wrapped up his stadium tour in the U.S., he has set his sights on his shows in Ireland. He’s playing five dates — September 9, 10, 11, 16, and 17 — at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
Garth said on his weekly Studio G that the stage is already going up, “It’s a tradition that [production manager] Brian Petree send me a picture of load-in. I got it this morning. You can just pretty much see the pitch and the first leg goin’ up of this massive structure.”
He added, “Anybody that’s seen a Garth show will not have seen this. I haven’t even seen it yet!”
Setting the stage for the tour’s finale – which Garth and his team plan to capture on film and record – is no small task, given that it’ll take place in one of the three largest stadiums in all of Europe. Brooks said, “How did it get over there? Half of it was by boat. But try to remember that we were hauling a lot of this stuff out of Houston [the tour’s final U.S. stop earlier this month]. And then they got some special stuff specially created for it. So a lot of it’s being flown over there.”
He offered, “It’s extremely expensive, but I can tell you this: what does ‘Shoeless Joe’ says in Field of Dreams? ‘I’d have played this game for lunch money.'”
More than 400 thousand people will see Garth over the course of Ireland’s five-concert run.
Brooks recently told fans that his stadium headlining days are over at the end of this tour. He said in late July, “I can tell you this – no more Stadium Tours. There won’t be a Garth Brooks Stadium Tour again. We might play a stadium on a date or something somewhere to do something with somebody, but I can’t imagine there ever being a full-blown tour.”
