Massachusetts: Here Is Where You Get The Best Lobster Pasta
It’s certainly no surprise that seafood and noodles are just a fantastic pair. Where do you go to find the best lobster pasta in Massachusetts these days?
Well, if any time of year would be deemed the best season to score this delicious dish, it would be now: in the summer. It appears that currently, any restaurant that can get away with having this meal as a special on the menu, is doing just that. I’m totally here for it.
Whether it has been in chalk on sandwich boards outside restaurants in the city, via Instagram posts, or suggested by the waiter or waitress, I feel like I am seeing lobster pasta dishes more this season than ever before. Sure, this is a good thing, but how do you select which establishment to go to when craving this combo?
There are two reasons why the decision of where to go requires some in-depth thought. First of all, lobster pasta can be quite expensive. We are not talking about a $19.99 special. Depending upon the catch and amount of lobster in the dish, you can expect almost triple that price at higher end establishments. Though it is worth the cost, that can make for a hefty bill.
Second, you want a place where the chef prepares the meal right. It’s not as simple as throwing lobster meat on a plate of spaghetti. It’s easy for noodles to absorb the taste and take over the meal.
My first experience with this meal came in Hawaii. On my honeymoon, our last night dinner reservation was booked well in advance. Then, I was reading the magazine the hotel had by the pool and suddenly stopped in my tracks at a full-page ad. “What is that?!” I shouted.
It happened to be a full plate of lobster risotto that looked so incredible that I had to explore where this was made. Luckily, it happened to be from the restaurant right next door. We changed our plans and went to this oceanside restaurant. To this day, their lobster pasta is the greatest single dish I’ve ever eaten.

It’s the order that I’ve found most resembles that sundown meal in Hawaii. Located at 379 Hanover Street, Strega in the North End cooks up a Cavatelli Ala Vodka that includes one pound of lobster. Therein lies the key, the sauce that is mixed with this meal. The pink vodka sauces adds a creamy flavor and texture that soaks right into the lobster. If it’s done right (like Strega) the sauce will have hints of lobster flavor where you won’t won’t to leave any sauce in the dish.
Giacomo’s in Boston is an honorable mention here. This iconic restaurant provided lobster sauce options that you can add to items like fettuccini. In addition, their lobster ravioli in a garlic cream sauce is on another level.
