People like us more than they expect to, according to a new poll. OnePoll did a survey for the West Virginia Department of Tourism looking at what states are “most underrated” when it comes to vacationing. Who do you think came in at #1? If you said West Virginia – ding ding – remember, this survey was commissioned by the state of West Virginia. It’s what state(s) came in second which us New Englanders will find more interesting. It’s a tie: Massachusetts and Rhode Island!
So why are we underrated? Is it because people think visiting here will stink because of our driving? Or because of our rabidly passionate sports fans? Or maybe because everybody views us as that obnoxious “cousin…. from Bah-stahn.” (I hope you sung that in your head.) Rhode Island, maybe the coffee milk scares them away?
New England has a ton to see! Obviously we’re full of history but we’re also full of Dunkin’ locations. Just two great reasons to come see why we’re underrated. And when you get cut off and flipped off while trying to get from historic point A to Dunkin’ point B, just smile and wave back – and chalk it up as a part of the local flavor and charm.
By the way, 3 New England states just made the list of top places to visit for the Fall! Dang we’re on a roll:
