Fenway Park Concert-Goer Walks to Hospital, Has Baby, Names it After Headliner
Oh baby, “Raise Your Glass” to Angela Mercer who wasn’t letting anything stop her from seeing her favorite artist, Pink!, at Fenway Park. (Well anything but one thing, I guess.) Angela made the trek with her family for the Fenway show from her hometown of Albany, New York. Angela was 31 weeks pregnant so she didn’t forecast the night she had with her favorite artist.
Soon after entering Fenway Angela noticed something – contractions. Angela had entered early labor, inside Fenway Park, over 3 hours away from her chosen hometown hospital. So what did she do? She hoofed it.
Angela was decked out in her concert-going best and hit the streets to grab a cab, a Lyft, an Uber, anything to get her to the hospital where she could give birth to her child. However, with all the hub-bub and crowds that come with a big concert at Fenway Park, a ride she could not find. So Angela and her family decided the best thing to do at this point is… walk to the hosptal! She channeled the bad@$$ spirit of Pink! and walked the 1.1 miles from Fenway to Brigham & Womens where she successfully gave birth to Aycen Hart, a healthy baby boy.
And in case you didn’t notice, the baby’s name is an ode to Pink! and her family. Pink takes her last name from her husband, Carey Hart. Both of their children do too. And now so does Angela’s son Aycen, who gets the “Hart” middle name – and a story that will most likely get him free drinks at the bar for his whole life – starting in 21 years of course!
And while “person who’s about to give birth to another person” didn’t quite make the list, here are 10 types of people you probably will run into at a concert. Maybe you’re even one of them??
