And Massachusetts #1 Tailgating Beer IS… *drumroll*
Massachusetts favorite tailgating beer is… not the one pictured. Though that IS the beer that won the most states.
Shane.co started with 36 popular canned alcoholic beverages and compared their popularity (via Google Trends interest) in each of the 50 US states during football season (October through January). Based on that data they figured out each state’s #1 favorite tailgating beer. Blue Moon won the most states, deemed favorite in 14 states including the state where it originated – Colorado.
High Noon Hard Seltzer came on strong this year winning 5 states. By comparison White Claw won 1 (we’ll get to that soon) and Truly won none.
And as for Massachusetts? We, like Colorado, picked one which has it’s earliest roots here in the Bay State. The original craft brew Sam Adams won the honor of favorite tailgating beer here in Massachusetts. I guess while Patriots fans and New Englanders run on Dunkin’, on game day we run on Sam. Or at least cheer on Sam. Oh you get it…
The #1 tailgating drink in New Hampshire is White Claw. Nice and light, leaving you plenty of room for wings and pizza.
Smirnoff Seltzer won favorite tailgating drink up in Maine. It’s a little brisker up there so Smifnoff warming the belly makes some sense there.
Vermont picks Guiness as it’s #1 tailgating beer. Some people say it’s deceptively light but I think I’d need a big, fat halftime nap.
The favorite tailgating drink in Connecticut is Blue Moon.
And Rhode Island tapped High Noon as it’s tailgating sip of choice.
New York’s top tailgating drink is Labatt’s. I just shared that because I went to college in New York near the Canadian border and the love for Labatt’s was very real. Blue, Light, Ice, we chugged it.
Now that we’ve covered the drinks of choice on gameday, let’s focus on another thing that might drive us to drink on gamedays…
