Rhode Island Residents Test Worst at Grade-School-Level Geography
Rhode Island residents are the worst at geography, this according to a new study. Could it just be payback for everyone who know that Rhode Island is a tiny blip on the map but have the hardest time locating it?! Maybe. Actually, no. Definitely not. It’s because they bombed the test attached to the study in question.
Online Casinos completed the nationwide study where adult Americans were posed with geography-related questions tailored for 5 to 11-year-olds. Questions like, “in which American city is the Golden Gate Bridge located?” If you answered Houston, Texas you might be from Rhode Island. I kid. I kid.
However, Rhode Island did in fact finish 50th out of all 50 states on the geography quiz at the center of this study and article. The average score of questions answered correctly during the study (including residents of all 50 states) was 81.8%. That gives American adults a B- in elementary school geography. I would snicker at that but thank God they didn’t call me or Massachusetts may have pulled up the rear in 50th place. Geography is sadly my kryptonite and if I didn’t have a GPS baked into my phone I’d end up somewhere in Canada instead of Waltham every day when commuting to work so no disrespect, Rhode Island.
Minnesota residents aced the quiz, scoring best in the US with a 88.6%. Massachusetts ranked best in New England and great overall coming in 5th best in the nation. Mass residents scored a 86.8%.
As we’ve stated multiple times already (and not to harp on it, but) Rhode Island finished last, deeming them worst in the country at elementary school geography, scoring a 71.7% or a C-.
