Data Shows….There’s 1 Specific Road That’s The Most Dangerous In Massachusetts
Traffic is already horrible. But on I-93 it's the most dangerous. Read why
While you’re driving in Massachusetts, there’s one road in particular that’s considered the most dangerous in the state.
It’s a new year, but does that mean you’ve made new goals to become better drivers? Probably not. Massachusetts drivers have always had a metaphorical chip on their sleeves. It’s more about the offensive driving, more than the defensive driving, right?
But the one thing about Massachusetts drivers is that while they might drive a little “crazy,” they actually aren’t the worst drivers in the country. According to Forbes, the great state of Texas has the worst drivers, followed by Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. See? Massachusetts isn’t even in the top five states of worst drivers!
What Road In Massachusetts Is The Most Dangerous?
There is a highway in the Commonwealth of MA that proves over and over again the be the most dangerous in the state. Researchers at Assurance used National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data to calculate the number of fatal crashes per interstate and then compared those numbers to the number of interstate miles. All of this was sourced from the Department of Transportation.
I think we can all agree that I-93 is the most dangerous in MA. But now we have data to support it.
According to their study, I-93 takes the crown for the most hazardous interstate in the state, boasting a whopping 3.4 fatal crashes per 10 miles. It seems the twists and turns of I-93 provide more thrills than a rollercoaster – but without the safety harness.
Zooming out to the bigger picture, the researchers discovered that, on average, Massachusetts endures 10.1 fatal crashes per 100 miles of all interstates. Now, I’m not saying Massachusetts drivers have a knack for turning every drive into a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster, but the numbers might suggest otherwise.
Let’s make a resolution for the New Year. Let’s drive a little slower, a little safer, and keep in mind that everyone has an important place to be. It would also be nice to keep the road range down a couple notches too! Safe travels, everyone!
But How About This Massachusetts Town!
Surprising Massachusetts Town Makes 2023 Top 10 Safest Drivers in the US List
Let me re-shuffle that headline a bit: Massachusetts Town Makes 2023 Safest Drivers in the US List, Surprising Some. That sounds a little less judgey, right? I don’t mean to imply that I feel that drivers in this town are bad drivers. I don’t think that at all, even though it’s the only town I’ve gotten into an accident in in the 20-something years I’ve been a Massachusetts resident/regular. And judging by this new study, not only are they not bad drivers – they’re actually the safest drivers in Massachusetts… and 2nd safest in all of New England! Some high, high praise.
Do you think it’s your home town? Do you think you are home to the best drivers in Massachusetts? Read on, fair butterfly.
