‘Mad Men’ Actor Jon Hamm Honored with Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year Award
Actor Jon Hamm, known as the ad executive Don Draper on the AMC series “Mad Men,” has been named 2025 Man of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals. The theater group will roast Hamm on Friday, Jan. 31, where he’ll receive the theater group’s Pudding Pot award. He’ll then attend a performance of the group’s 176th theatrical production, “101 Dalmatians.”
“We are beyond excited to honor Jon Hamm as our 2025 Man of the Year,” Hasty Pudding Theatricals President Catherine J. Stanton said in an article appearing in The Harvard Crimson. “Of course, to claim his Pudding Pot, he’ll have to prove he’s the real Jon Hamm — we’ve seen how good he is at keeping an identity under wraps!”
“Let’s hope our roast doesn’t give him any heart palpitations. He’s had enough drama with that,” said producer Willow Woodward in a statement to WBZ-TV. “But with his work ethic, we’re confident he’ll take on our stage with as much grit as Texas oil fields.” Woodward’s reference acknowledged the fate of Hamm’s character in the final episode of the 2024 Paramount+ series “Landman.”
Although Hamm is best known for his role in “Mad Men,” he starred as Sheriff Roy Tillman in the FX series “Fargo,” for which he received Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. He’s also appeared in films such as “Bad Times at the El Royale.”
Hasty Pudding Theatricals has awarded its Pudding Pots to people who have made longstanding, significant contributions to the entertainment industry. Hamm is the 58th Man of the Year to receive the award, which was established in 1967. Hasty Pudding Theatricals will present its Woman of the Year Award, established in 1951, on Thursday, Feb. 6.
According to the group, Hasty Pudding Theatricals dates to 1844 and is purportedly the third-oldest continuously operating theater group in the world.
