Sounds fake… but we’re not lying! Ralph’s Tavern in Worcester wants you to use allll your fake money today, Wednesday, June 23rd… but ONLY today.
Ralph’s Tavern is inviting guests to use Monopoly money between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. today, June 23rd, as part of a campaign to land the bar on an upcoming Worcester edition of Monopoly. The new version of the game will feature 34 Worcester locations on the board. Scot Bove, the owner of Ralph’s Tavern, spoke with Boston.com and is hoping his spot will be one of the ones that makes the cut.
“A friend of mine, Eric, works here part-time, so he came up with this idea, and initially I was a little hesitant,” Bove said to Boston.com. “I was like, it sounds kind of corny, but then it took off.”
Between 4-6pm today, Wednesday, guests can pay $5 in Monopoly money for admission, $10 for a hot dog, $20 for Jell-O “shots,” and $50 for a raffle entry. However, the Jell-O “shots” will be alcohol free, since any alcohol needs to be paid with regular U.S. currency and cannot be given away for free. There will be raffle prizes that include branded T-shirts, glassware, hats, and more.
