Massachusetts Most Loved Summer Rom-Com Movie is Older Than Margot Robbie
‘Barbie‘ is the movie of Summer 2023 but Massachusetts’ favorite summer rom-com movie is older than Barbie herself. A new study by CableTV.com looked at every state’s favorite rom-com and the Bay State’s pick turns 37 years-old this October.
Massachusetts’ pick for most beloved summer rom-com? The Princess Bride.
In case you’re not in the know, “The Princess Bride” is a classic romantic fantasy-comedy film directed by Rob Reiner. The story follows the adventurous journey of Princess Buttercup and her true love Westley, who becomes the Dread Pirate Roberts. It’s a tale of love, friendship, and humor – filled with memorable characters, including Inigo Montoya seeking revenge and Vizzini’s iconic phrase “inconceivable!” The film blends romance, swashbuckling action, and witty dialogue, making it a beloved cult favorite – and Massachusetts’ favorite rom-com. Narrated by a grandfather to his sick grandson, “The Princess Bride” has captured the hearts of audiences with its timeless charm and quotable lines.
CableTV.com gathered titles from articles covering the best or most popular romantic comedies. They then analyzed the titles for average monthly search volume and compared them in Google Trends. The most popular summer rom-com in the country is “10 Things I Hate About You.” The movie was tops in 22 states. Last year Massachusetts’ favorite was “There’s Something About Mary” so “The Princess Bride” is a brand new #1! A brand new (though 37 year old) #1, that is.
The movie was released to theaters on October 1, 1987.
Alright, you have your movie cued up but what about the snacks? For that we turn to another study because why not let everyone else make all of our decisions? I kid.
The team at Casinos.com wanted to find out what America’s favorite snack food is, each US state separately too. They left out fast food restaurants and sugary drinks and sodas but all other junk foods were considered in their research.
