When It Comes to the ‘Most Neighborly’ Cities in America New England only has ONE
If I asked you what people in Boston are known for you’d probably start with two things: they love their sports… and they’re a little salty or blunt, some might even interchange rude. I’d personally say we’re more misunderstood. Anyway, with all of this in mind it really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that New England only had one single entry on 2023’s list of “Most Neighborly Cities in America.” I’ve lived in my current house for two years and can count on my hands how many conversations I’ve had with the neighbors. Does that make the list right, or me just a bad neighbor? Maybe a bit of both?
Who better to report on the most neighborly cities than Neighbor.com. They must be the authority on this matter! Lol The website considered factors such as charitable donations, volunteer work, and low crime rates when putting together their annual Most Neighborly list.
In the end Madison, Wisconsin came out on top as Most Neighborly City in America. Minneapolis, Minnesota came in second. Colorado Springs, Sarasota, and Rochester, New York rounded out the Top 5.
So back to the beginning of this article. Salty ol’ New England only had one city in the Top 25. Must be in Vermont, huh? I grew up there so I have heard about being a peaceful hippy all my life. As soon as somebody hears I’m from Vermont it’s all hacky sacks, weed, maple, and peace & love. Skiing too… and Ben & Jerry’s. And to be honest we do love most of those things. But the neighborly city is not from Vermont.

So New Haven may be most neighborly in New England… but if you want to come get salty and be a neighbor in Massachusetts, you may want to consider the following info:
