Dolly Parton’s New Rock Album Is Her Highest-Charting Album Ever
Dolly Parton is living her best life at 77 years-old. She got the country talking after her Thanksgiving NFL Halftime Show (how does she look so dang good?) and now she’s scored her highest-charting album ever… in 2023… at 77 years-old… and it’s a rock album!!
When Dolly was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame she commented, ‘well now I need to record a rock album.’ So she did. And now it’s her best performing album ever on the sales charts.
Dolly Parton has released 49 studio albums, four collaborative albums, nine live albums, six soundtrack albums, one extended play and approximately 222 compilation albums globally so for her to get the most successful album at this point in her career is unbelievably impressive. Add to that fire the fact that it’s her first experimental rock album and it’s simply unbelievable, period.
Dolly’s Rockstar album currently sits at #3 on the Billboard 200 album chart with more than 118,000 physical copies sold. Dolly’s previous highest-charting album was actually a tie between 2014’s “Blue Smoke” and 1987’s “Trio,” which she released with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. Both albums peaked at #6 in the country.
Rockstar features tons of collaborations along the way from superstar artists like Paul McCartney, Sting, Elton John, and her goddaughter Miley Cyrus.
This makes Dolly Parton an even bigger icon, in country music and now in rock music too. And while Dolly is one of the biggest icons in entertainment, music, and pop culture, she’s actually quite small in stature. How small?? Well, let’s have a little fun putting it into perspective. A fun little game we’ll call “What In Your House Is the Same Height As Dolly?” Long name but roll with me, my brainstorming partners bailed on me…
