Massachusetts Named 2024’s Best State to Raise a Family
Massachusetts is known for a lot of things: our sports, clam chowder, pahking cahs (most frequently by Hahvahd Yahd), and now raising families. But as soon as that family gets in the family car and hops in traffic, things get a little less kumbaya. Back to that previous point – Massachusetts was just named the best state for raising families in 2024. Go us!!
WalletHub released the study which took factors such as family fun, health and safety, education and child care, affordability, and socio-economics into consideration to create their annual list of the best states (and worst) to raise a family. From those five categories, researchers graded all 50 states using 50 key indicators, ranging from median annual family income and housing affordability to unemployment rate. After all factoring had been factored in, the five worst states to raise a family in 2024 are Arkansas, Alabama, West Virginia, Mississippi and New Mexico. And on the flip side of that, the best state to raise a family in 2024 is… Massachusetts!
New England did very well overall, with 5 of the 6 New England states making WalletHub’s Top 10. Vermont finished at #10, Rhode Island at #9, New Hampshire finished at #7, Maine at #6, and as we’ve already discussed Massachusetts took the nation’s top spot. Connecticut, the only New England state that didn’t finish in the Top 10 came in at #12. Not too shabby at all.
Massachusetts came in first in the US for education and child care and had an overall score of 66.97. To give a little perspective, North Dakota finished last in the country with an overall score of 30.47.
So there’s the good news: Massachusetts is the best state in America to raise a family in in 2024. It’s great to live in New England!! That is… unless you’re trying to find a job in these 3 New England cities…
A new study just came out listing off all the best and worst cities in the US to try to find a job right now and these were 3 of the worst in America.
