LOOK: The 15 In A 30 Tour From My Phone
It’s a raining, raw Monday morning but I’m still flying high from Saturday night’s musical extravaganza. I spent part of yesterday looking at the photos on my phone and there was no possible way I could only post a couple of pictures on my social pages to truly capture what it was all about. I worked the show, which means I got to meet some of you at our parking lot party. It almost meant I had lots of homework to do, as I was scheduled to interview all of the artists. There were 4 equally talented but completely different artist and that’s what made this show, this tour…so good. So good. So good.
I had more fun chillin’ at Chris Janson’s tailgate by his bus, than should be allowed while working. He actually fixed me a drink and was so comfortable and conversational, I didn’t want to leave, but I kept getting the “wrap it up” sign from the powers that be. He actually thanked me for a blog I did after our last conversation on the phone, a couple of months ago. I am still numb from the fact that he read it, not to mention remembered it and me! This can’t be real. His stage presence is just off the charts energetic. He engaged the crowd and made New England fall in love. Precisely the reason we are bringing Chris back to star at our Street Party on September 24, as announced with Jackson & Hannah this morning!
Newcomer Ryan Follese was sweet, funny, talkative and thoroughly entertained the crowd, even performing a hit from his past life. He was the lead singer of the pop band, Hot Chelle Ray, who scored a big hit with the song, “Tonight, Tonight.” Ryan has returned to his country roots and will release an EP this October. He grew up in a musical family. His parents are both songwriters (Keith and Adrienne) who have written hits for Tim, Faith, Lady Antebellum and Martina McBride! Country is definitely in his blood! Ryan was cool enough to come out to our parking lot party to do selfies with his fans!
Maren Morris has more soul in her tiny body, than seems humanely possibly. She channeled Beyoncé, ripped into “My Church” will heavenly conviction and strutted around the stage in her skin-tight liquid leggins and crop-top like she owned it. Her hair was pink, her diamond engagement ring bedazzling and she genuinely seemed thrilled to be back in New England. She even humored me and let me play a game I made up with her called, “Truth or Darin’ with Maren.” One dare had her singing some Sam Hunt! Props to Maren for helping to empower and lead a new generation of smart, sassy and totally talented female country artists.
Sam Hunt…well, look at him. Nuff said? No, actually. Sam was truly impressive. He worked the stage like the athlete he is, or was (Quarterback for UAB). His voice was in fine form, and he seemed almost giddy at the response from the sold-out audience. There was much love for the tall, talented song-writer. He did his own hits, the ones he wrote for others and even honored his country roots with an acoustic tribute, playing an intimate set of those who inspired him from Travis Tritt to Alan Jackson. I’m a much bigger Sam fan now that I’ve seen this tour. As good as he was, I truly believe this is just the beginning for him. There’s longevity in his words, his delivery and his passion.
Enter Sam Hunt onto the stage……
