Predicting The ACM Award Winners For This Sunday Night – Who Do You Think Will Win?
I always like to test myself when it comes to award shows. How many winners can I guess?
See who I predict and make your own predictions below!
My picks are in BOLD and my reasons WHY are under each.
Album of the Year:
Little Big Town
Chris Stapelton
Jon Pardi
Old Dominion
Thomas Rhett
Why: It is the YEAR of Stapelton..I’ll go into more depth shortly…
Single of the Year:
Little Big Town – Better Man
Sam Hunt – Body Like a Backroad
Chris Stapelton – Broken Halos
Midland – Drinkin’ Problem
Blake Shelton – I’ll Name the Dogs
Why: Without a doubt, the BIGGEST song in the last year. I can’t see it going to anyone else and it making any sense. But, hey Sam – release a new album already, would ya?!
Video of the Year:
Dierks Bentley – Black
Brothers Osborne – It Ain’t My Fault
Kelsea Ballerini – Legends
Thomas Rhett – Marry Me
Miranda Lambert – We Should Be Friends
Why: The moment “Marry Me” was released it brought tears of happiness and joy to those young and old. Putting a video to those lyrics just made the tears flow a little easier. Damn you, Thomas Rhett.
Vocal Event Of the Year:
Thomas Rhett/Maren Morris – Craving You
Maren Morris/Vince Gill – Dear Hate
Glen Campbell/Willie Nelson – Funny
Keith Urban/Carrie Underwood – The Fighter
Kane Brown/Lauren Alaina – What Ifs
Why: Honestly, a very tough category! But, based on when the song was released and what it stands for now due to current events, it makes the most sense. An amazing song that helped heal many.
Vocal Group of the Year:
Old Dominion
Little Big Town
Lady Antebellum
Midland
Lanco
Why: With each release, they’re almost unstoppable and with a massive hit like “Better Man,” I see this going to LBT.
Vocal Duo of the Year:
Brothers Osborne
Day & Shay
FGL
LoCash
Tim & Faith
Why: While others in this category may have had overall more success with their releases, I feel like this one is probably going to go to the OG’s of the genre.
Female Vocalist of the Year:
Carrie Underwood
Kelsea Ballerini
Maren Morris
Reba
Miranda Lambert
Why: While Carrie Underwood just broke the internet with the release of “Cry Pretty,” when it comes to this past year, the award should go to Maren Morris for the amazing success she’s had. Almost coming out of nowhere and taking off like a rocket. It’s very much well deserved.
Male Vocalist of the Year:
Chris Stapelton
Chris Young
Thomas Rhett
Jason Aldean
Keith Urban
Why: While his radio success is still growing, the mere mention of Chris Stapelton gets the true country fan giddy.
Entertainer of the Year:
Chris Stapelton
Garth Brooks
Luke Bryan
Jason Aldean
Keith Urban
Why: When “From a Room Volume: 2” was released, it rose Stapelton to such a renewed popularity that even his debut “Traveler” ended up back in the top and he had all 3 of his albums in the Top 5 on the country chart. It’s been the year of Chris Stapelton.
Song of the Year:
Body Like a Backroad
Female
Tin man
Whiskey & You
Why: This was the year of the “Me Too” movement and as that continues, songs like “Female” stand out as a little more important than say, talking about the curves of a ladies body.
Songwriter of the Year:
Ashley Gorley
Hillary Lindsey
Josh Osborne
Rhett Atkins
Shane McAnally
Why: He’s had a hand in writing some of this years biggest songs like “Female,” “Body Like a Backroad” and “Drinkin’ Problem”…hard to deny the chart toppers!
