Eric Church Reveals A Life-Threatening Condition Landed Him In Surgery
Eric Church, a heartthrob to say the least, opened up to ‘Rolling Stone’ about almost dying at the end of his ‘Holdin’ My Own Tour’ last year.
He told ‘Rolling Stone’ that as his tour was winding down, he was feeling tingling in his hands, and he thought that maybe it was his nerves. Once it started to get worse, he found himself not able to text – that his hand was not responding like it was supposed to. His arm was red and enlarged, so he went online and figured out that he may have Thrombosis of the Arm.
After driving to multiple hospitals to accommodate him needing an ultrasound, the doctor told him that he had a blood clot in his chest and that he needed surgery THAT DAY.
“They took me into the ICU and I thought, ‘OK, I’m gonna go to bed, get up in the morning and do this thing,’ ” he says. “But when I walk in the room, the surgical team is there and the [doctor’s] in scrubs. He says, ‘We’re gonna go now.’ That was really when it hit me. To them, I was going to die.”
They ended up finding out that he had thoracic outlet syndrome, where his rib was too close to his collarbone, so when he’d raise his arm, it would pinch the vein. The doctors ended up taking out his top rib, and he had to do physical therapy before heading out on tour again.
Talk about scary! That’s why they always say if something feels off – go get checked! You never know what it could be.
