Today, we pause for a moment to remember the lives lost on 9/11 and reflect on the tragic events that unfolded 17 years ago.
Despite the destruction and devastation after our nation came under attack, 9/11 will always be remembered as the day America came together.
We mourned together, offered aid together, and hoped for a better day — Together.
On the eve of September 11, 2001, 2,977 (this number has been adjusted to remove the hijackers from the death toll) people went to sleep that night — Not knowing they would lose their lives the following morning.
Of the nearly 3,000 people who died on 9/11, 412 were first responders who rushed to the scene to rescue people.
On the anniversary of 9/11, Americans across the country stop to pay their respects to the lives lost, and to thank first responders and our troops for their continued dedication towards keeping us safe.
