Happy Super Bowl Weekend! If you’re looking for something to do before the start of the big game, or perhaps looking for somewhere to go for the game, look no further. Here’s a list of the top ten FREE things to do in Boston this weekend.
1. Friends Book Sale to Benefit The Boston Public Library
The Friends of Boston Public Library are hosting a city-wide book sale. Most books are $1 – $2 and there is something for everyone – mystery, romance, biography, history, art, science, cooking, children’s books, and more! There are even sheet music, records, CDs and DVDs too. If you have a lot of books at home you can even bring them to the book sale to donate. All proceeds from the sale are used to purchase equipment and sponsor programs for the Boston Public Library.

2. MFA Lunar New Year Celebration
Ring in the Year of the Rate with FREE admission to celebrate Lunar New Year at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston! Have the chance to explore Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese traditions while enjoying a variety of activities, demonstrations, performances and more throughout the day!

3. PuppyBowl at Polkadog Bakery
PuppyBowl is the most adorable sporting event of the year which features pup sized stadium, tailgate games, giveaways and more! The adoptable dogs from New Life For Paws will ruff it out to win the PuppyBowl. Bring your dog to join in on the game or come for the home team scrimmage. There will be pupcakes from ByChole and Starbucks Puppachino’s to reward the good boys!

4. 12th Annual Some Like It Hot Chili Cookoff
This weekend is the 12th Annual Some Like It Hot Chili Cookoff in Harvard Sqaure! Sample chili from Harvard Square’s hottest restaurants on Brattle Street. Taste them all and vote on your favorite. The restaurant with the most votes will be presented with the highly coveted Harvard Square Chili Pot! Join us for this festive, fun and FREE outdoor event.

5. February Flicks
The Old Colony History Museum in Taunton is back with their February Flicks Series! Each Saturday they’re showing movie adaptations of titles that they read in their Old Colony Community Book Group. Snacks and drinks will be provided each week. This weekend they’re showing A Man Called Ove, but you can see the full list of movie titles and dates here.

6. Boch Center Tours – FREE Kids Admission
Visit the historic Boch Center Wang Theatre and take a behind the scenes tour of one of Boston’s most prominent theaters. Now through the end of February chidlren ages 4-14 are eligible for free tour admission with a purchase of an adult ticket. Tickets can be bought upon arrival. Tours are available hourly from 12pm to 4pm, 7 days a week.

7. Biggest Super Bowl Tailgate Party in Harvard Square

8. Getting Cozy at the Library
Somerville Public Library is bringing back their popular ‘Getting Cozy’ night all winter long to keep you feeling cozy and happy during the coldest time of the year! Each month they’ll provide material for a new craft project, but if you want you can being something you’ve already started. Everyone is welcomed to bring their own crafting project to work on while chatting and sipping hot chocolate. This program is FREE and open to the public.

9. FREE Ramen in Cambridge for Students with an ‘A’
One Ramen and Sushi in Cambridge’s Porter Square is offering a FREE bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen to any student who received an ‘A’ in the Fall 2019 semester. This offer ends this Friday January 31st so make sure you bring you’re report card! One Ramen and Sushi wants to encourage students to get great grades for their future.
