Dunkin’ To Close 1,150 Stores
Yesterday McDonald’s announced hundreds of restaurants closing and today Dunkin’ makes a similar announcement. Dunkin’ will be closing 800 U.S. stores – including 450 limited-menu Speedway locations. The other roughly 350 stores that will close will be international locations. That’s over 1,000 Dunkin’ locations closing by the end of the year.
The closures will account for about 8 percent of the chain’s total U.S. stores, and will mostly focus on low-sales volume locations. Dunkin’ has reportedly been down 18.7 percent in the second quarter of 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
There are currently around 8,500 Dunkin’ locations in the U.S. (And around 11,300 locations on planet Earth.)
