Chris Stapleton On Black Lives Matter: ‘It’s Time For Me To Listen’
Chris Stapleton talked to CBS This Morning about the current Black Lives Matter movement.
Chris was moved by the Black Lives Matter protests in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death, saying there has been a “broad awakening” in the country. He said, “I think everybody should be doing more. It’s time for me to listen. And it’s time for other folks to listen.”
He also admitted that his own perspective on the country had been changed saying, “You know, I thought we were living in a different country. And that’s 100% real. I feel like the country that I thought that we were living in was a myth.”
When asked if he supported the Black Lives Matter movement, he replied “Do I think Black lives matter? Absolutely…I don’t know how you could think they don’t.”
Stapleton also talked about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected him saying, “I think everybody has doubts about everything they’re doing in every moment right now.”
He added, “There’s good days and bad days. If anybody tells you that they haven’t reached a near breaking point mentally in these times, I think they’re probably lying to you.” Stapleton’s new album, “Starting Over,” will be out November 13.
