Country Christmas Artist – Lainey Wilson
About Lainey:
Pinned as an “Artist to Watch” in 2020 by The Boot and Sounds Like Nashville and included in CMT’s “Next Women of Country” program, Wilson kicked off the year by making her Grand Ole Opry debut—a dream come true for the Baskin, Louisiana native. Hailing from the small farming community, the Country newcomer has as much grit in her as she does soul. She moved to Nashville in a bumper-pull camper trailer to pursue a career in music and has been carving her own unique place in the country music landscape ever since, already garnering early praise for her “unabashedly down-home and unflappably worldly” (NPR) style and exhibiting “just enough scars and pragmatism to write great, universal country songs” (Taste of Country). From landing multiple TV placements in Paramount Network’s hit series Yellowstone to having co-writer credits on songs recorded by fellow country artists including Luke Combs, her talents continue to influence more than just her own artistry. Lainey continuously logs an impressive number of miles on the road, performing for sold-out crowds throughout the US, UK, and Germany with notable names like Justin Moore, Tyler Farr, Ashley McBryde, Randy Houser, Josh Turner, Morgan Wallen, and more.
Wanting to give her listeners more music to sink their teeth into, Wilson released four brand new tracks throughout the first part of 2020 – “WWDD”, “Rolling Stone”, “Sunday Best”, and “Small Town, Girl” – pleasing current fans and attracting new ones with her fresh but familiar “bell-bottom country” sound which she explains as “country with a flare” and The Boot describes as “a cross between easy listening and hard truths”. Produced by GRAMMY Award-winning mastermind Jay Joyce, Wilson made her label debut on the BBR Music Group/BMG flagship imprint, Broken Bow Records with her EP Redneck Hollywood, featuring her current radio single “Things A Man Oughta Know”. The song is inspired by things Wilson’s parents taught her growing up coupled with character-building lessons derived from past relationships, both good and bad, “Things A Man Oughta Know” is simply “a song every country fan needs to hear in 2020” (Taste of Country). Amidst the new track releases, Lainey also revealed a stripped-back acapella video of “Things A Man Oughta Know” verifying “The only thing hidden behind the catchy, contemporary production of both of this year’s previous releases with Jay Joyce, is a vocalist of unmatched talent, humbled by her characteristic humor and wit.” (American Songwriter).
