Brad Paisley Says The Nashville Fireworks Display Tops All

Brad Paisley will spend his Fourth of July 2023 performing a free show in downtown Nashville at “Let Freedom Sing! Music City.” Brad plays just before the fireworks let loose, and he says the Nashville fireworks are the best in the country, hands down.

Paisley told us in an interview last week that in 2021 when he performed for the Fourth of July event in Nashville, the fireworks were insane. He said, “It’s worth sitting through my show for the fireworks they do. I mean, I think it was the most ever done, and it was like they were proud of the fact they had like four or five more rockets than New York or D.C.”

He added, “I don’t know what redneck thing they were trying to win here with the fireworks, but we won it. It’s like that place near Chattanooga, the huge firework place; they went down there and bought them out.”

Brad is always excited to play at such a fun event, even without getting paid. He said, “It is gonna be wild; Fourth of July is a tricky thing. We learned early on, like don’t try to sell tickets on the Fourth of July, nobody wants to pay to go to a concert, so it’s really fun to give back and just let this be free and play the town I live in.”

Paisley released a new song from his forthcoming album, Son of The Mountains. The album, his first for UMG, should be out later this year. The new song is called “So Many Summers.”

Brad posted about the new song on Instagram, writing, “Swing for the fence. Watch all the bobbers. Play the songs on ten. After all, you only get #SoManySummers.”

Fans were thrilled with the new song as one commented on the post, “I love listening to your songs… They are far beyond my expectations. Thank you for being part of my musical preferences!!!!” Another fan said, “Hell yes!!!! Your songs bring me so much comfort.” One more fan wrote, “It was time for a new song, and it sounds awesome!”

Paisley will perform the new song and several of his hits for television audiences as part of his appearance on the Today Show’s Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 14.

The song tells of finding an undeveloped camera, which contains pictures of him and his previous lover - enjoying themselves in Cozumel, Mexico, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At first, he considers developing the film on the camera, but then, he changes his mind, asking himself, "Who needs pictures / With a memory like mine?"

  Brad said of creating “We Danced” with his co-writers “It started out with us focusing on a guy who owns a bar. And we began with the scenario that he's there working after the bar is closed, sweeping and putting the chairs up. Then this girl comes in who's forgotten her purse.   When writing the song, Brad thought that the bridge to Alabama's 1982 single "Mountain Music" would fit well with the song. Instead of sampling that song, he asked Alabama band members Randy Owen, Jeff Cook, and Teddy Gentry to join him in the studio and record a piece of it.

Because of the importance that he places on the song, he asked Andy Griffith to star in the music video, as he felt that Griffith's personality matched the personality of the older man in the song.

Paisley told Country Weekly magazine that he was inspired to write the song after hearing the announcement that Barack Obama, whom Paisley endorsed, would become President of the United States and realizing that the first president in his children's lives would be an African American.
