Jelly recently took some time out of his current 2023 “Backroad Baptism Tour” to visit inmates at a correctional facility in Virginia after the inmates asked him to come as a “favor.” Jelly posted a video clip of the experience on his Instagram.
He captioned the clip, “Always spread love when we can- thank you to the Harp program at the Chesterfield County Jail in Virginia for allowing me to come share some songs with the men and women incarcerated- your program is what is needed in these jails more than anything.”
In the video, Jelly tells the inmates gathered around him, “I heard y’all needed a favor,” as they chanted his name. He said of the video they released singing his song “Need A Favor,” asking him to visit, “I just wanna say I’m a fan. I was watching on TikTok before y’all started calling for me.”
He told the inmates, “I don’t think y’all even realize the impact that y’all are having. Whenever I was in here, we didn’t have a program like this. We didn’t have people like us come talk to us.”
