Boston College Vs. Miami Features Impressive Local Talent
Thanksgiving week always provides football games that come with a little extra local pride. For Friday’s Boston College vs. University of Miami game, it also represents a big coming home.
To set the stage, this is the final game on the schedule for both teams before there are any bowl game announcements. Currently, both teams sit at a record of 6-5. In addition, both are amidst a losing streak. However, records and results aside, this year the matchup between these two ACC schools is what Thanksgiving football tradition is all about.
Here is a snapshot of the 2023 BC Eagles who are from Massachusetts. In fact, there are currently 19 local players on the Boston College 2023 roster. Here they are.

The first score to report between BC and Miami football this year is 19-1. The Eagles’ roster features 19 local players, to Miami’s 1 player from Massachusetts. However, that one player is a big story.
#63 Miami Offensive Tackle Samson Okunlola
A six-foot-six freshman, Okunlola is from Brockton. The University of Miami is a nationally recognized college football brand with a deep history. And they don’t have players from Massachusetts on their team. In fact, the only other New Englander on the Hurricanes’ roster is starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke.
As for our Bay Stater returning home, Okunlola played his high school football at Thayer Academy. The 247 scouting report says that he “Has first-round NFL draft potential.”
Boston College and Miami did not play each other last year. So this year, a day after Thanksgiving, Okunlola wrapping up his first collegiate season with Miami on local turf serves as a nice way to end the season.
