Why Is Kohl’s Closing 1100 Stores For A Day?

What? Why is Kohl’s closing 1100 stores? I just bought my wife a $100 Sephora gift card for her birthday! Oh, the humanity!

Hey my friend, tap the breaks. It’s only for ONE day. Yes, you can still redeem your thousands in unused Kohl’s cash and take care of the ladies in your life with all of the Sephora gift cards you need. But why are they closing all stores for just a day? Maybe they need to shut down to ship in their new fashion line of Aaron Rodgers, LL Cool J and Lenny Kravitz gear. Or maybe it’s something much less corporate?

Why Is Kohl’s Closing 1100 Stores?

Yes, it’s true Kohl’s is closing all 1100 stores, for just one important day. A day that could be important to many of their workers. It’s Easter Sunday. Kohl’s has announced that all stores will be closed Easter Sunday, March 31, so their employees can enjoy the Easter Holiday with their family. According to the US Sun:

Shoppers will be happy to hear Kohl’s will operate on its normal opening hours on Easter Saturday. Kohl’s will also operate as usual on Easter Monday.

It would be smart to plan ahead this Easter Sunday, as there are other stores that will be closed. The Sun also reports other stores that will be closed Easter Sunday include, Macy’s, Lowes, Sams Club, Costco, Target, Aldi, Publix and H-E-B.  Kohl’s also reports that they will close two other major holiday’s, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Kohl’s In Massachusetts

Out of the 1110 stores nationwide, Kohl’s operates 25 stores in Massachusetts. They are location in Burlington, Chelmsford, Danvers, Dartmouth, East Walpole, Framingham, Hingham, Hyannis, Lenox, Leominster, Mansfield, Medford, Millbury,  Northboro, Pembroke, Plymouth, Saugus, Seekonk, Springfield, Stoughton, Taunton, West Springfield, Woburn, and Worcester.

How Much Will We Spend On Easter?

The National Retail Federation reports that Easter spending isn’t feeling the inflation. Consumers plan to spend an average of $177.06 per person on top items like candy, food, gifts and clothing this year. Total is estimated at $22.4 billion.

    Disney has a lot of inspiration for decorating Easter eggs, from Mickey and Minnie Mouse to Cinderella and Frozen. One blogger shared that they purchased a Monsters University Easter Egg Dye Kit at Target to make the process easier. A platform worth using for step-step guides to painting specific Disney eggs is Pinterest. Some suggestions share stickers and templates for some of the more detailed parts of the decorations.     Several things can be used as Easter egg decoration inspo in the world of music. One idea includes Taylor Swift’s albums or songs. Recently, Country Living did their take on Taylor Swift: Eras Tour with eggs. They decorated an egg for each of her albums. Can you imagine how much fun you can have decorating a Red or Reputation egg? See some of their creations here. And don’t worry this can work with all genres and artists. So, if you want to go hip-hop, rock, or country, go for it!

  • Movie And TV Show Easter Eggs

    With shows like Squid Game and movies like Barbie the possibilities are endless for decorating. Not too long ago, Olivia Lux from season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race actually decorated a drag race-inspired egg. It has extra accessories from eyelashes to hair. Another simple but fun egg to decorate could be inspired by Netflix’s Wednesday. If you’re feeling ambitious you can decorate an Addams Family of eggs. Movies are also an option. Maybe, Star Wars or Mean Girls?

  • Sports

    You can’t go wrong with sports-decorated eggs. Just pick your favorite team and get to painting. You can break it down by favorite teams in different sports, favorite players, or jersey numbers. If you want something simpler, you can stick to designs like footballs, basketballs, baseballs, or other sports equipment. This is perfect for the sports lover in your family.
