Gronk Says He Could Come Back To The Patriots With Brady? UPDATE: BRADY AND GRONK RESPOND!
Update: This is getting more and more real guys!
We reported on Monday that Gronk was willing to come back to the Patriots if Brady came back. While this may have seemed like a tongue in cheek statement, it seems more and more like Gronk is trying to speak it into existence. More on that below. Here is the story from Monday.
Could Gronk Come Back To The Pats?
This morning Boston’s Country 102.5 Morning Show Jonathan Wier and Ayla Brown got a surprise visit from Rob Gronkowski. The two hosts were in Hopkinton Massachusetts for the 128th Boston Marathon when Camille Kostek (Gronk’s longtime girlfriend) came over to the tent and much to the surprise of the pair of hosts picked up a headphone and mic and started broadcasting with them!
Even more surprising was when Gronk himself came over to talk to the duo. After talking about Ayla’s pregnancy and what it was like to be the grand marshall of the Marathon Jonathan Wier got in a question to Gronk regarding an interview that Tom Brady did last week.
If you missed it, last week Brady was on a podcast called Deep Cuts hosted by Vic Blend where he was asked if he would be opposed to coming back this year and playing for a team. Here is what Brady said: “I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”
When asked what teams he would come back for Brady without being prompted said “The Patriots” along with other teams.
So Jonthan asked Gronk what he thought of Brady’s statement and Gronk said:
“Yeah, he could definitely come back and play. Even though he hasn’t played in a year, I’m telling you, he’s better than about 80% of the quarterbacks out there. You can just tell from where he left off when he retired. And if he wanted to, he could definitely come back and play for the Patriots.”
Would Gronk come back to play with him? This is what he said:
“Now, if you ask whether I would join him, sure, I’d come back too. But I’d put in my contract that I’d only play eight games, and I’d have a bye week after each game, so I’d be ready to go for the playoffs.”
So is anything definite? No. But we all remember a few years ago when we thought Gronk was done playing and then came back to win a Super Bowl in Tampa with Brady. So long as the answer isn’t a definite “No” there’s always room for hope.
UPDATE: Gronk tells Brady to rejoin the Pats
Gronk threw out the opening pitch for The Red Sox on Monday. “Threw” might be a little generous as he slammed the ball so hard into the ground that it caused a minor tremor from Landsdowne to Van Ness. The entire internet was tooling on Gronk about it and Brady decided to chime in. THAT’S WHEN THINGS GOT REAL.
Tom Brady: Love seeing the Gronk spike!!!
Gronk: @Tombrady you had better make a comeback now because that’s all anyone is asking me about up here in Boston.
Again, how realistic is this? Probably not very, sorry Patriots fans, BUT how likely was it that a 6th round pick would end up being the greatest QB of all time? There’s always room for miracles.
